Home, Work, and On-the-Town: A Cosmetics and Hygiene Blog

If you're a busy person, you probably get ready early, spend a long day at work, hit the town for drinks or food, and arrive home late. Your hygiene routine has to ensure that you stay looking and feeling fresh for that length of time, and if you wear make-up, you want it to look great all day long as well. That can be challenging on the best of days, and it can feel impossible on your worst days. I can help! My name is Mari. I am a lawyer who's always busy, and I keep running all day long from work, to meetings, to lunches, to nights out with my friends. Because of that, I learned a lot about how to stay feeling fresh and looking great. In this cosmetics and hygiene blog, I'm going to share my tips for men and women. Enjoy!

FAQs About Vetiver Colognes

If you browse the men's fragrance section of a department store or clothing store, you'll probably see at least a couple of colognes that use vetiver. Some may use it as the main ingredient and others as a subtle endnote. In spite of how common this cologne ingredient is, most people do not know a lot about it. Here are some questions you may have about vetiver colognes, along with their answers.

What is vetiver?

Vetiver is more than a scent. It's a tropical grass that grows in Asia and in some other warm climates. The grass can be pressed to release its essential oils, and it's these oils that are used in colognes and other fragrance products.

Why is vetiver cologne so expensive?

If you look at the price tags on a few vetiver colognes, you may notice that they tend to be on the pricier side. There's a good reason for this. First of all, producers do not get very much oil from vetiver grass. They have to grow a lot of grass in order to obtain a small amount of oil, and growing all of that grass requires a lot of space and resources. Vetiver also has to be aged before it is pressed for oil. This aging process takes time and labor, which adds to the cost.

How do you describe the scent of vetiver?

Vetiver has a very unique scent. It has not been able to be replicated in labs, which is another reason it remains so rare and expensive. Some describe the scent as earthy or woody. It is a very complex scent that stays with you for a long time. There are often notes of citrus and spice blended in with the woodiness. Towards the end of the experience, you may even notice some grassy scents. And all of this comes from one oil!

Who is vetiver cologne ideal for?

Anyone who likes this scent should wear it! However, it is important to note that vetiver is a pretty heavy, complex scent. It's generally thought of as better suited for winter than for summer. And it is more of a sophisticated, formal scent than a lighthearted one. These are more guidelines than rules, though. If you like it, wear it.

Hopefully, you now have a better understanding of vetiver and how it is used in cologne. It's a lovely ingredient with its own story and characteristics.

Reach out to a supplier, like St Johns Fragrance, if you would like a bottle of vetiver cologne.
